WHO IS ROBERT GEMMELL?

Robert Gemmell often acts as lead and support Expert Witness, including giving evidence in court proceedings under oath, and has received over 100 appointments as Arbitrator, Adjudicator, Expert Determiner, and Dispute Board Member in disputes in various jurisdictions around the world ranging from the equivalent of several thousand to several hundred millions of Australian Dollars. Robert also acts as a preparer and assessor of claims in relation to the assessment of quantum related matters, particularly in relation to delay and disruption. Robert also regularly provides training for contractor and employer/principal organisations.

 

Robert has been named in numerous Who’s Who Legal categories in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 as a leading national and global leader and 'Thought Leader'. Who's Who Legal says “Robert Gemmell stands out for his deep understanding of delay and disruption costing and for his high-quality outputs" and is cited as "an expert of choice on large disputes".
 

PUBLICATIONS

Robert has both authored and co-authored a number of publications in the area of quantum, delay and disruption, and dispute resolution. These publications have been widely received in the industry, and gone on to the be used and cited in legal proceedings and also used as learning and teaching material, particularly by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the University of Melbourne.

Robert is the author of the book entitled “Quantification of Delay and Disruption in Construction and Engineering Projects” published by Thomson Reuters. The Hon Peter Vickery QC says in the foreword to the first edition "Here we have [a] work of legal scholarship and authority written on the challenging subject: the quantification of delay and disruption in construction and engineering projects. Robert Gemmell’s text book is as comprehensive as it is valuable, providing as it does a practical guide to the critical exercise of quantification of the loss." and in the foreword to the second edition as “The new additions in this Second Edition will … cement this book as a leading ‘go to’ text in this complex and all-important area of construction and engineering.”
